BCBAs in PBIS: Supporting All Levels Systemically
A systems-focused session on integrating board certified behavior analysts into Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 PBIS supports without narrowing their impact to isolated crisis response.
Presentation Abstract
BCBAs in PBIS Abstract
BCBAs in PBIS: Supporting All Levels Systemically describes how school-based behavior analysts can strengthen PBIS implementation across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. The session positions the BCBA as a systems partner who supports prevention, targeted intervention routines, intensive assessment workflows, staff coaching, data-based decision making, and implementation fidelity. The goal is to help schools use behavior analytic expertise to improve outcomes for many students, not only to respond to individual crises.
Session Description
A Systems Role for School-Based BCBAs
This session describes how BCBAs can support PBIS at every level: building preventive Tier 1 routines, strengthening targeted Tier 2 supports, and improving Tier 3 assessment and intervention processes.
The emphasis is on practical implementation: staff coaching, data systems, fidelity checks, classroom routines, team decision-making, and the district structures that allow behavior support to scale. It gives school teams a clearer way to use BCBA expertise as part of PBIS rather than as a separate or reactive service.
What This Covers
Tier 1 schoolwide systems and educator coaching.
Tier 2 support routines that prevent escalation.
Tier 3 assessment and intervention workflows that connect back to PBIS.
How districts can use BCBA expertise systemically.
